"You Give them Something to Eat"

  When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, "This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late.  Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food." But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away.  You give them something to eat." After Jesus learned that John the Baptist was beheaded, He departed to a deserted place by himself.  A multitude, however, discovered that he was leaving and followed him on foot.  The Lord, seeing the multitude, had compassion on them and healed their sick.  The works that Jesus did, testify that God the Father sent him into the world (John 5:20, John 5:36). The Lord did not run or hide from the needy, because it was through his works in helping them, that his identity would be put on display so that men would believe.  These works were given to him by God the Father. Lift up your eyes and look at the fields

  "Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together." - John 4:35-36 The Lord Jesus tells his disciples not to consider the gospel harvest a far-off and future event, but to lift up their eyes and see that the harvest is here and that the Lord is, at this very moment, bringing people into his kingdom.  Are you involved in this work? One of the most sobering realizations that a believer can make is to discover that he has busied himself with involvement in many activities and yet, is not doing what the Lord Jesus them to do.  The Lord has commissioned every believer to make disciples of all the nations and to teach them to observe all that he has commanded us [Matthew 28:18-20].  This is the primary work to which we have
